MCSA 70-410 Exam Overview
The MCSA 70-410 exam tests your skills in Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012 R2. The areas tested in this exam are ones which should be core to an IT professionals skill set. Typically people sit this exam when working towards gaining a MCSA:Windows Server 2012 certification as it is the first of three required exams 70-410, 70-411 and 70-412.

The 70-410 exam counts towards gaining one or both of the following Microsoft certifications:
- MCSA – Windows Server 2012 certification
- MCSE – Server Infrastructure
Microsoft recommends that you should have prior experience of at least 1 year with installing and configuring Windows Server 2012 operating systems before sitting the 70-410 exam. Although this is not a required prerequisite, real life experience will immensely help with learning about the new Windows Server 2012 features.
If you’re career plan includes working as a System Administrator or System Engineer, gaining a pass in this MCSA exam will help build a solid skill set for work in these roles.
70-410 Exam Content
This exam will test your knowledge and skills in all aspects of installing and configuring Windows Server 2012. The 70-410 exam is scored across six different topics all of which will make up your final exam score. The sections are:
- Install and Configure Servers
- Configure Server Roles and Features
- Configure Hyper-V
- Deploy and Configure Core Network Services
- Install and Administer Active Directory
- Create and Manage Group Policy
Each of these areas make up between 15-20% of your final score, so a sound understanding of all areas is required to pass the MCSA 70-410 exam.
